orange. spunky, sunny, cheerful, lively, fun, brave, trendy, beautiful! orange is even the punch line of the infamous joke - "knock, knock." "who's there?" "banana." "banana who?"...."knock, knock." "who's there?" "banana." "banana who?"..."knock, knock."
"who's there?" "orange." "orange who?" "orange you glad i didn't say banana?"

i love orange - tho' the joke does get old. my orange-haired (oops- i mean red-head - oh, i mean ONE of my red-head) sister(s), shelley, loves orange!

shelley's a great sister & friend. she's the big sis who's always had to be the guinea pig growing up, going through life first and experiencing 1st time parents' rules, etc. recently she's been through a rough patch, fighting colorectal cancer. she's a trooper (in the words of dr. culbert!) and a tough bird (thanks, mom and dad, for those great boxing gloves) and is now down to her last chemo treatment. hooray! thanks to everyone who's helped her out and who has had her & her family in your thoughts & prayers. we wish we could be closer!

we had a great visit last month when she and carlos (who is getting so big!) flew out here to texas. loads of fun and good times were had by all. got them semi-used to the stifling heat and humidity of houston, so that they could face their own crazy heatwave on the east coast!
