Why sah-weeet (sweet) 15? It's usually "Sweet 16," right? Wrong. It's always sweet when we're talking about Mitchell! Well, of course, he is one sweet guy - you can always count on Mitch to be the peacemaker and kind to all. But that's not what I'm talkin' about! He's the candyman - he's always got the 411 on where the candy or treats are stashed in the house. Like Hansel and Gretel leaving their trail of breadcrumbs, wherever Mitchell has been, there are usually candy wrappers leaving a trail behind on the floor. Or stashed in his nightstand drawer. Or in his bathroom cabinets. Or by his computer. (He claims he's wrongly accused).
Mitchell didn't ask for much on his special day. The one request was for a Utah Utes birthday cake. Well, Utes cake, take 2! (See post on 2/14). Mitchell spent the day hanging out with his good friend, Dominic, for some intense gaming action. Grandma Roz and Grandpa Ray were visiting, so we all went out to Sweet Tomatoes for dinner and everyone got to pick their fave foods. After, we got to pick between not one but two birthday cakes! Well, some of us picked both cakes. Mitchell's cute Sunday school teacher baked him a yummy chocolate cake (how nice!), so we had a vanilla AND a chocolate cake (oh, the dieting begins once again...)
Mitch had a great finish to his freshman year and the ending of 14. He did great in all of his classes, including his first year of German! He's requested some pretty tough classes for his sophomore year and I'm sure he'll do well. Mitchell competed in his first year of high school wrestling, and brought home a bunch of medals. He gets to go to the BIG campus in August (I believe that TWHS is the biggest school in all of Texas - and that's saying something since you know what they say about Texas and "big"). Mitchell has also completed his last scout merit badge and has turned in his Eagle scout application. We're waiting for word of the next step in the process. He finished his service project in December, holding a big Christmas party at a Sr. citizen home with the youth group from church. This Eagle scout thing is a huge accomplishment! Also...this is a biggie....Mitch starts driver's ed in August. Yikes!! Not another kid driving! Look out, neighbors and friends. Really, we have confidence that Mitchell will be very careful and diligent in his driving. But seriously, this driving thing is one of the hardest parts of motherhood that I've ever encountered....more on that later.
We love you, Mitch!! Happy 15. We think you're the best!

I think your perfecting your Utes cake. It looks great. Happy Birthday to Mitchell. What a great year he has had. Congratulations on Eagle Scouts progress. That is big and I know he's worked hard on that.
Tell him when he starts driving if he squeals out of the neighborhood everytime like the boy who will remain nameless with the blue Mustang... I'll tell his momma on him. ;0
